A class of its own Tatura

-

Cover story By Kerri Thomson In a prestigious cul-de-sac in Tatura’s Northlinks estate, stands a two-storey residence with sophisticated open-plan living spaces of the highest standard. There has been no expense spared on this property, with materials and a colour palette of earthy neutrals, which allow the home to sit comfortably in the surroundings. Local building designer Paul Ranson’s innovative design and builder Mick Cavallaro’s superb craftsmanship have combined to create a dream home, ideally suited for entertaining and naturally capturing the views of the waterways and golf course. The inside entrance with cedar-lined roof and glossed timber floorboards displays an open-tread staircase of stainless steel and jarrah, that wraps around a stone-clad pier and filters views beyond, and also draws you through the entry hall and into the multilayered living spaces. Here you are immediately presented with the living area, a room that provides the home with an enormous sense of scale and presence, with its soaring double-height ceiling opening to the mezzanine above. This void has an important functional role, in that it allows the sun to penetrate the building through a series of cantilevered awnings without exposing it to excessive heat loads. To one side, immediately adjacent to the living space, are the dining area and kitchen, and to the other, a highly-appointed home cinema. The kitchen features Caesarstone benchtops and a contrasting Caesarstone splashback, reflecting silver twinkling highlights, and White Pearl 2Pac cupboards, a dishwasher, induction cooktop and walk-in pantry. Upstairs, a gallery-style walkway leads to the master suite that features a walk-in robe, luxurious ensuite with double vanities, secluded walk-in shower and oversized bath with overhead skylight for a special touch, and a living area with balcony. In addition to the mezzanine overlooking the living space below, the triumph up here is the skilful use of glazing, which creates a framed landscape view of the golf course from the gallery. Returning downstairs, hidden behind double doors is the study with two built-in work stations and a storage cupboard with sliding door. Runway sensor lighting illuminates the hallway which opens onto three bedrooms, two bathrooms— both with double shower and frameless shower screens— and the laundry with walk-in linen robe. Under the roofline, there is an outdoor entertaining area with polished exposed-aggregate concrete, an in-ground pool and spa with mosaic motherof-pearl border tile and glass pool fence. There is also a three-car garage with remote control, boat accommodation and a large additional storage area. The numerous extra elements throughout this home are impressive. With the greatest attention paid to every detail, particularly the way the design captures the view of the landscape, this contemporary building is in a class of its own.
