No climate consensus
CANBERRA: Australia’s environment minister will go to a key international summit without the states supporting her approach to climate change.
Melissa Price met with her state counterparts in Canberra yesterday and asked them to endorse a statement to take to a climate meeting in Katowice, Poland, today.
‘‘What I had suggested was that we had an agreed statement that we would all work together to determine an action plan with respect to climate, with respect to things that we can do individually and collectively,’’ she said. ‘‘Sadly that was not agreed.’’ Ms Price would not say which state governments did not agree to her request.
Ms Price said the states were not united in opposing it and not necessarily along party lines.
