Hunt for al­leged killer

PO­LICE RE­CEIVE IN­FOR­MA­TION JONATHAN DICK HAS BEEN HID­ING OUT IN THE AREA

A search for one of Aus­tralia’s most wanted fugi­tives was con­ducted in bush­land this week be­tween Shep­par­ton and Mooroopna, Vic­to­ria Po­lice has re­vealed.

In­for­ma­tion sup­plied to po­lice sug­gested al­leged killer Jonathan Dick was hid­ing out in the area.

‘‘Po­lice were in Shep­par­ton ear­lier in the week af­ter in­for­ma­tion was re­ceived in re­la­tion to the on­go­ing search for Jonathan Dick,’’ a spokesper­son said.

‘‘This in­for­ma­tion has been in­ves­ti­gated and found the per­son in­volved not to be Jonathon Dick.’’

Po­lice he­li­copter ac­tiv­ity on Sun­day and Mon­day and sub­se­quent searches by the Pub­lic Or­der Re­sponse unit fu­elled spec­u­la­tion the op­er­a­tion re­lated to a num­ber of dif­fer­ent in­ci­dents, but po­lice re­mained quiet about the ac­tiv­ity.

Dick is wanted over the al­leged death of his brother David Dick on Fe­bru­ary 3, 2017.

He has evaded po­lice for al­most two years and a $100 000 re­ward has been of­fered for in­for­ma­tion which leads to his cap­ture.

‘‘The search for Jonathan Dick by de­tec­tives from the Fugi­tive Task­force and Homi­cide Squad re­mains on­go­ing and any­one who sights him is asked not to ap­proach, and con­tact 000 im­me­di­ately,’’ the spokesper­son said. ● Any­one with any other in­for­ma­tion about Dick’s where­abouts is urged to phone Crime Stop­pers on 1800 333 000.
