BUILDING SKILLS PUT TO THE TEST
KIDS GET BUSY BUILDING WITH PLANKS
Creativity was flowing through Shepparton’s Maude St Mall on Thursday.
Young and old gathered in the centre of the mall where they were encouraged to put their building skills to the test at the Greater Shepparton City Council activity Planks.
Activities in the Park assistant Kim Mansell said the unique activity had a great turn out and strong interest shown.
‘‘The planks are small pieces of timber — 10 cm by about 2 cm — there’s thousands of them and they allow kids to design and create all sorts of things,’’ Ms Mansell said. ‘‘The way the kids are designing their own things are incredible.
‘‘It’s blown me away what they’ve actually come up with.’’
Ms Mansell said the activity had proven popular with children and adults.
‘‘And we’ve had some adults actually playing more than the children — they’ve been loving getting involved,’’ she said. ● The Greater Shepparton City Council’s Activities in the Park initiative runs from September to April.
