Motorcyclist killed after hitting tree
A Kyabram man, 52, died after his motorbike struck a tree in Kialla yesterday morning.
The driver was travelling with two other riders along Watt Rd when his motorbike hit an embankment along one of the bends, near Riverview Dve.
Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene about 7 am and an air ambulance was dispatched.
Improving safety along this notorious stretch of road has been a priority for authorities in recent times due to the high number of incidents occurring and the perceived dangers during wet conditions.
In September last year, $120 000 was announced for safety upgrades as part of the 2018-19 Black Spot Program.
Yet to be started, the improvements are expected to include installing a new safety barrier, centre and edge line marking, raised ref lective pavement markers and the removal of a tree.
