People will be talking reptiles with Turtles Australia on Friday while discovering a variety of freshwater turtles that live in the region’s waterways.

As part of Activities in the Park, RiverConnect will run the interactive turtle event at SPC KidsTown’s amphitheatre.

Greater Shepparton City Council’s environment manager Greg McKenzie said families were encouraged to come along.

‘‘Families who are looking for a fun, educational experience for the kids these holidays are more than welcome to come along and learn about turtles in a fun, exploring environment,’’ Mr McKenzie said.

He said the event would be a rare opportunity to view turtles up close and learn more about the lives of these interesting reptiles.

‘‘They will be able to see the turtles up close and both the children and adults will learn something about our local environment,’’ Mr McKenzie said.

‘‘They can also make a day out of it and explore the play equipment KidsTown has to offer.’’ ● For a gold coin donation, Turtle Talk will be on Friday, from 10 am to noon at SPC KidsTown amphitheatre, 7287 Midland Hwy, Mooroopna. Bookings are essential and can be made by emailing RiverConnect at rivercon[email protected]parton.vic. gov.au or phoning 5832 7000.
