Things sure to get wild on Eastbank stage

Shepparton News - - NEWS -

Deadly 60’s TV identity Steve Backshall is heading to Shepparton for his Downunder Tour featuring some of Australia’s deadliest animals live on stage.

Best known for his presenting role on the BBC Earth children’s show tracking down the world’s most dangerous animals, Mr Backshall is also an author, expedition leader, naturalist, wildlife expert and presenter.

Mr Backshall said the show would include audience participation, on-stage fun and opportunities to ask questions about all his adventures.

‘‘I’m coming back to Australia,’’ Mr Backshall said.

‘‘This time we’re doing things a little bit different — we’re on walkabout.

‘‘We’re travelling all the way down the east coast of Australia on our battle bus — the ultimate deadly tour bus.

‘‘There will be stunts, audience participation, some of Australia’s most extraordinary wildlife on stage and loads of craziness. ‘‘I cannot wait to see you there.’’ Having travelled the world to learn about the most inspiring predators, Mr Backshall has experienced a number of encounters with animals including swimming with sharks, been bitten by a caiman, squirted with ink by Humboldt squid, and charged by elephants.

Maintaining that wild animals pose no threat to people, Mr Backshall will share stories and videos from his Australian explorations.

Steve Backshall’s Deadly 60 Downunder Tour will visit Shepparton on Saturday, January 19, showing at 2 pm and 5 pm at the Eastbank Centre, 70 Welsford St, Shepparton. ● For more information or to book tickets, go to www.riverlinksv or phone (03) 5832 9511.
