WA basketball champ dies in crash
PERTH: An acclaimed WA basketballer has died following a freak crash on a busy West Australian highway.
Anthony Exeter was driving on Bussell Hwy near Ludlow south of Perth on Friday afternoon when the canopy of a boat being towed in front of him detached and smashed into the windscreen of his car.
Police say the father of two, 41, was flown to Royal Perth Hospital where he died on Sunday evening.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing, police said.
Mr Exeter had a long and successful basketball career, playing more than 300 games for the Rockingham Flames and Perth Redbacks in the State Basketball League.
A member for the Flames from 1995, he was crowned the league’s most valuable player in 2000.
