Rural health is more than just a career

Goulburn Valley Health chief executive Matt Sharp said Careers Week, coupled with Rural Health Day, helped highlight the range of roles available in regional and rural centres.

And as GV Health is expanding with its current redevelopment, the diversity of roles is also growing.

“As our health service is growing, there are plenty of opportunities available right here in Shepparton,” Mr Sharp said.

“These include clinical, healthcare and non-clinical pathways such as corporate administration or hotel services.”

Mr Sharp said the Goulburn Valley could provide a welcome lifestyle change for people looking to move from the city.

“It’s a different pace in rural and regional Victoria – you can have a challenging and rewarding career as well as the benefits of rural living,” he said.

“You have a lot more time in your day that’s not spent commuting, and that’s time you can spend in the community, whether it’s sport or hobbies.

“At the same time, you still have easy access to Melbourne to go watch a game of footy, a show or spend a weekend in the city.”
