OLYMPIC FUN RETURNS

GUTHRIE STREET STUDENTS PUT THEIR SKILLS TO THE TEST ON SCHOOL’S OLYMPIC DAY

- By Isabelle Harris

Guthrie Street Primary School’s Olympic Day celebrations have been able to go ahead at last.

The Shepparton school’s event was previously cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions, which forced students into online learning temporarily.

The all-day celebration involved relay races and making gold medals and flags, as well as students and stuffed toy mascots dressing up.

Students loudly cheered on their peers as they competed in races and worked together on craft projects.

Teacher Suzy Turton said that while learning about the Olympics online had worked, the fun day was ‘‘a day of enjoyment’’ and socialisation for students.
