Pfizer set for end of August
Australians aged 16 to 39 will be eligible for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine from August 30.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison made the announcement yesterday afternoon, but said bookings weren’t yet available.
He flagged a further announcement on how people could book their jabs next week.
People under 40 have been able to access the AstraZeneca vaccine for weeks provided they obtained GP advice or gave informed consent before the jab.
Vaccinations for 12- to 15-year-olds had not yet been given the green light.
“We will take further steps but I want to assure parents in particular, vaccinating children is something we take really seriously and we do it very carefully,” Mr Morrison said.
