Why did you get vaccinated?

I decided as soon as there was a vaccination available that I would be getting one — I couldn‘t think of a reason why not.

Why did you get AstraZeneca?

I was waiting and waiting. As soon as I was eligible I booked in.

About two weeks before people aged 18–39 became eligible for AstraZeneca at state-run vaccination hubs I was trying to get a booking through GPs.

Some wouldn‘t have any bookings, others didn‘t have any GPs who were administering the vaccination and others were only for people eligible for Pfizer.

It was really tough with a lot of phone calls and I didn‘t really end up getting anywhere.

How was the booking process?

Booking for AstraZeneca at the Shepparton Vaccination Hub was really easy — it took me about two minutes.

How was the vaccination process?

The vaccination process itself was easy — I was in and out in about an hour. There were a lot of people in there getting vaccinated but you could see the process was really well thought out.

There were plenty of people in high-vis vests to help you out.

What would you say to someone aged under 40 considering getting AstraZeneca?

I‘m a stickler for not Googling things and scrolling social media for information about the AstraZeneca vaccination.

I have family who work in healthcare and they gave me fact sheets — once I read those I decided it was a good thing to do.

I found the fact sheet the staff at the Shepparton Vaccination Hub gave me was really useful.

My advice would be to read the fact sheets and get the correct information.

I also want to thank everyone who helps with the COVID-19 vaccination rollout. From the logistical side to the security guards, the people taking bookings and the nurses who give you your vaccination. Thank you for what you do.
