‘Big-time’ Daniher primed for finals

Brisbane: Brisbane Lions forward Charlie Cameron is tipping Joe Daniher to flourish in the finals, likening his partnership with his fellow forward to that which he had with Eddie Betts at Adelaide.

Cameron booted an equal career-high six goals in the Lions’ 85-point win over Collingwood on Saturday, with Daniher kicking three of his own and feeding his small forward at every opportunity.

Injuries soured Daniher’s time at Essendon but after securing a move to the Gabba he’s returned to his best form.

He has played all 21 games for the Lions – more than his previous three seasons combined – while a goal against West Coast tomorrow would make him the first to kick a major in every game of the regular season since he managed it himself in 2017.

“It’s always amazing what he can do and I have the best seat in the house,” Cameron said of Daniher.

“I had Eddie Betts at Adelaide doing his thing and Joey’s doing his thing right now. The confidence and belief in his body, to play 22 games this season, he’s firing, ready to go and that’s why we brought him up here, to play in these big games and finals.

“He’s a big-time player and he’s showing it at the moment – the confidence he has, belief in his body and game, is unbelievable.”
