Bruin bears leadership at Winton

While its events are falling left and right because of rolling blows delivered by COVID-19, Winton Motor Raceway and owner Benalla Auto Club is getting on the front foot from a leadership perspective.

On Saturday it was announced the organisation had appointed Bruin Beasley as operations manager.

A figure possessing a bank of experience in the motorsport business, Beasley has excelled since joining Winton in April and was overjoyed to take the next step in helping the operation f lourish.

“Taking on the operations manager role at Winton is an amazing opportunity,” Beasley told

“Winton has been part of my life in one way or another since early childhood, I hope my experience on the ground can help the venue to continue to grow.”

Beasley’s resume on and around the tarmac more than checks out.

Prior to jumping on board at Winton, he worked as Erebus Motorsport’s team manager as well as overseeing the touring sector of Garry Rogers Motorsports’ TCR Australia program.

Additionally, Beasley pioneered MTEC Motorsport, a team which runs cars in Formula Ford, Formula 4 and New Zealand’s Toyota Racing Series.

And as a Historic Winton regular, his connection to the northeast track runs deep.

Since April the focal point of Beasley’s involvement has been upscaling the venue’s facilities; ones which have not had much action of late with a litany of events postponed or cancelled.

In the last week alone, the 2021 Winton Festival of Speed (cancelled), ‘Brekky with Grechy’ and August 29 Sprints (both postponed) have been impacted.

But while that situation is out of his hands, Benalla Auto Club chief executive Chris Lewis-Williams was elated to welcome Beasley into the operations manager role.

“Having someone with Bruin’s motorsport credentials leading the team at Winton Raceway will allow us to bring changes and improvements across the whole business,” Lewis-Williams told AutoAction.

“Although we are surviving tough times at the moment this announcement is a further illustration of the vision and support of the Benalla Auto Club Board and their aim to see continual improvement in our businesses and offerings to the motorsport community.”
