Story time

YOUNGSTERS ENJOYING BOOKS, MUSIC

- By Isabelle Harris

Share in the joy of rhymes, songs and stories with your children at Shepparton Library’s rhyme and story time.

Not only are the sessions a great way to spend time with your child, but children also get the opportunity to develop important motor and verbal skills with songs and simple hand and dance movements.

Home library co-ordinator Anne-Maree Rowley said these opportunities were ‘‘absolutely amazing’’ for kids and their parents.

‘‘Story times at any library are great for social and motor learning,’’ she said.

She said children sometimes started off a little bit shy, but most gradually came out of their shell and participated more in activities with the group.

‘‘Over time, you see how involved they are in the songs,’’ she said.

Rhyme and story times for all ages — from babies up to children aged six — happen regularly at most libraries and are led by friendly library staff.

● Goulburn Valley libraries are currently closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, but future bookings for rhyme and story time sessions with your child are available at your local Goulburn Valley library by calling 1300 374 765.
