DYNAMO KUOL HITS GERMANY

KUOL PICKS UP FROM WHERE HE LEFT OFF IN AUSTRALIA BY DOING WHAT HE DOES BEST — SCORING GOALS

- By Liam Nash

Alou Kuol is the name, goals are his game.

Shepparton’s prized round ball export is loving life in Germany, currently leading the scoring for VfB Stuttgart II with two goals in three matches in Regionalliga Su¨ dwest, the nation’s fourth tier.

The 20-year-old scored his second of the season yesterday — and it had all the hallmarks of a typical Kuol strike.

Receiving a pass inside the penalty area, the former Goulburn Valley Sun had his defender doing pirouettes before burying the opener for Stuttgart under-21s inside 20 minutes.

It was a true poacher’s finish, but wouldn’t prove enough to poach a result as opposition Hessen Kassel stole a 94th minute winner to sink Stuttgart 3-2.

Kuol’s first of the season came under much more favourable circumstances.

Up against FC Rot-Weiß Koblenz in the season opener, Kuol came crashing through the box late in the piece to add the exclamation mark with a bullet header during a 3-0 win.

His side is yet to claim another set of points since, and sits 11th out of 19 in the southwest conference.

But should he keep scoring in the youth ranks, a call up to the first team this season is not out of the question for Kuol.

By making his Bundesliga debut, the Shepparton export would join Socceroos greats such as Robbie Kruse and Mitch Langerak as Australians to have appeared in the German top f light.

His next chance to find the back of the net comes on Sunday, when his side takes on 17th-ranked Astoria Walldorf in match day four.
