Packages of goodwill

Lutfiye’s Shish Kebab is providing free meals and food supplies for those in isolation or in need within the community.

With the current COVID outbreak forcing a third of Greater Shepparton’s residents into isolation, Lutfiye’s Shish Kebab is once again looking out for the community in any way they can.

Azem Elmaz and his family are providing free food supplies and essentials to be delivered or collected from the front of the store

“We have lots of stuff at the front, all sorts of things, Weet-Bix, honey, tinned foods, apples and bread,” Mr Elmaz said.

“We’ve got volunteers to do deliveries — we call them, they’re on standby.”

Some of the goods have been donated by a combination of resources, including FoodShare, local schools and students, and the community.

The family business also offers free meals to those in need, no questions asked, except for how many to feed.

Giving back is not a new concept to the family business, with 31 years of helping those doing it tough.

“We didn’t open the shop as a business, we opened it to help the community,” Mr Elmaz said.

“We are so blessed in this country.”
