End of the lockdown, where art thou . . .
An art show already shut down once by lockdown restrictions is facing a second postponement.
Experiencing Place, featuring work by artists Beverley Dowd of Shepparton and Kialla’s Amanda Hocking, is already hung at Kyabram Town Hall and awaits the lifting of the current lockdown.
It was first shut down in early August before opening for two weeks until the current restrictions for regional Victoria were announced on Friday, August 20.
With about 30 paintings on display, both artists are interested in capturing the emotional attachment to place, and a concern for the environment.
“We know that the experience of place and landscape is more than the sum of what we see,” Mrs Dowd said.
“It is enriched by what we know, by what we feel and by our associations with that place,” she said.
Mrs Hocking agreed, saying the aesthetic experience of landscape started as nonverbal, and was intensified by knowledge, associations and individual preferences.
Experiencing Place can be viewed at the Kyabram Town Hall Gallery, Allan St from Monday to Saturday, as soon as the current lockdown restrictions lift, until early October.
The artworks are for sale.
