Keep the vax rush going

-

There is always a silver lining and from the outbreak that has gripped Shepparton for the past fortnight it is the rush to get vaccinated.

One of the anti-vaxxer methods to try and debunk COVID-19 as some sort of conspiracy has been to start the debate with the question ‘‘Do you know anyone who has had COVID?’’.

For most people, the answer given the low case numbers in Australia has been no.

The past few weeks has shown us the answer all along should have been ‘‘not yet’’.

Now, a few weeks later, many of us do know someone. We also know and understand the fear you have as a parent when you are linked to an exposure site and could potentially infect your children or your parents.

That fear was expressed perfectly by Merrigum dairy farmer Daniel Beattie whose partner, children and parents all became infected. The Delta variant didn’t spare anyone who had entered their home.

Thankfully, they are all now recovering,

Even during the outbreak, with a third of the community isolating and unable to leave home even to get vaccinated GV

Health posted record numbers through its vaccination hub at the

McIntosh Centre.

With thousands of eligible residents now free from quarantine it is expected many more will be motivated this week to join the vaccination rush.

The Victorian Government has now made it clear that our path to greater freedom is through vaccination, and the sooner we reach the 80 per cent target for fully vaccinated residents, the better off we will all be, especially the many small businesses that have struggled to keep going.

THE VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT HAS NOW MADE IT CLEAR THAT OUR PATH TO GREATER FREEDOM IS THROUGH VACCINATION, AND THE SOONER WE REACH THE 80 PER CENT TARGET FOR FULLY VACCINATED RESIDENTS, THE BETTER OFF WE WILL ALL BE . . .
