Broken River running high

Minor flooding is no longer expected along the Broken River, which is running higher than some residents can remember it ever running. The river peaked at 2.52m at Benalla, with minor flooding occurring on Monday. But with no further rain, the risk of flooding has eased around Shepparton. For Bryce Tate, 8, from Shepparton the small amount of water covering the bike paths just added to the fun. The Broken River at Orrvale reached 5.84m late on Tuesday and was still rising slowly. It was expected to peak below the minor flood level of 6.80m on Wednesday morning.
