Two charged after Numurkah bank break-in

- By Monique Preston

A Numurkah bank was broken into early on September 9.

Cobram Criminal Investigation Unit’s Senior Constable Phil Armstrong said two people broke into the Bendigo Bank at 12.45 am.

Police allege the pair stole bank property from the counter area before leaving the bank, Sen Constable Armstrong said.

The bank’s security attended the Melville St bank after the alarm sounded and placed a security guard at the door to protect the building overnight.

The next morning police watched CCTV footage from the bank and arrested two people a short time later, Sen Constable Armstrong said.

A Numurkah man, 61, and a Numurkah woman, 45, have been charged with burglary and theft.

They were bailed to appear in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court in February.
