Drink driver loses licence and is fined $750

-

A drink driver who was more than three times the legal bloodalcohol limit and driving on the wrong side of a Shepparton street has been fined $750.

Daniel Porter pleaded guilty in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court to drink driving and failing to drive to the left of a median strip.

Prosecutor Senior Constable Gary Steel told the court police saw Porter driving up the wrong side of the road in The Boulevard in Shepparton on August 9, 2018.

The road was split by a median strip in that section.

The court heard the concreter's vehicle mounted the gutter when police pulled him over.

When breath tested, Porter recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.17.

Porter was fined $750 and lost his licence for 17 months.

The loss of licence was backdated to August 18, 2018, when Porter received a police notice about losing his licence, meaning he can already reapply for it, but he will need to do a drink driver course first.
