Cars broken into in Shepparton, Kialla

Several cars in Shepparton and Kialla were broken into on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The thefts have prompted police to again warn people to lock their cars to guard against opportunistic thieves.

‘‘We urge people to lock their vehicles and remove their valuables,’’ Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Luke Arrowsmith said.

He said thefts from cars had always been an issue, but that ‘‘every now and then’’ there would be a spate of them.

While police are investigating thefts from several cars since Friday, they believe others may not have been reported if little was taken.

Power tools stolen

Power tools were stolen from a shed in Shepparton early Saturday.

Police said a number of tools were taken from a shed in the backyard of a Monash St home.
