On the wings of an Eagle

EAST READY TO FLY AS IT ADOPTS NEW UNIFORM AND NICKNAME AHEAD OF EAGERLY-AWAITED SEASON

-

East Shepparton Bowls Club will debut new uniforms this summer when Goulburn Valley Playing Area action gets under way.

The club will also officially adopt the nickname “The Eagles” for pennant purposes.

A catchcry of “C’mon Eagles” has been heard for a number of top-tier weekend and midweek campaigns from supporters and players at the club, but the nickname will now be pennantwide after a club vote.

“The whole club voted and agreed to be known as the Eagles,” new president Dennis Galt said.

“We won’t be officially changing the name of the club, because that’s a very involved process, but we’ll all be yelling ‘Go Eagles’.

“We’ve only had positive comments about the new uniforms, it’s good to have something happening and something to look forward to.

“Now we just have to get the bowls going.”

With the easing of lockdown restrictions, more bowlers are able to get out on the greens, and News photographer Megan Fisher was at East Shepparton this week to capture some of the action.
