- By Monique Preston crimestopp

Alcohol and a charity tin raising money for a car accident victim were stolen from a Shepparton bar early Wednesday morning.

Shepparton crime investigation unit’s Detective Senior Constable Shaun-Maree Brock said at least six people broke into The Deck shortly before 1.10 am on October 20.

The group of males and females broke through the front door to gain entry.

Bottles of alcohol were stolen, as well as a staff tip jar.

A post on The Deck’s Facebook page said they were most upset about the theft of the charity tin, which was close to full.

The Deck has been fundraising since July for local Cherie Mammone, who was involved in a car accident.

The break-in is yet another blow for The Deck, which had to close its doors later on Wednesday for cleaning after it was advised a COVID-19-positive person had visited the venue three times since Friday, October 15.

The venue has been listed as a Tier 1 site on October 15, between 8.30 pm and 10.30 pm; on October 17, between 7 pm and 9 pm; and on October 19, between 8.30 pm and 10.30 pm.

Police investigations into the break-in are continuing and anyone with information should contact Det Sen Constable Brock on 5820 5777 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at
