Know where you stand
The last time the Labor party won office it was with the support of the Greens and regional independents.
It was that government which, without consultation, pushed through legislation to take another 450Gl of water out of our rivers.
The Coalition government has now placed safeguards on this water to ensure that it does not get taken from food producers.
If a city-centric ALP is able to pull together a government with the help of the Greens and independents, then buybacks of water from food producers are back on the table.
It is critical that every independent candidate tells their voters if they would join an ALP/Greens government.
It is not fair that voters have to buy a pig in a poke.
We need full disclosure now. The consequence of a wrong choice for our electorate is very great.
Our economy depends on water access and security.
In Shepparton there is already an independent state member, and another next door in Indi.
The state independent is on the record saying that as an independent “our opportunities to do anything significant are terribly limited”.
An independent in Canberra can’t even ask a question without permission from the Opposition leader of the House.
And we know the independent member for Indi voted with Labor 80 per cent of the time last year.
My focus is on delivering for my community.
A vote for me in a re-elected Coalition government will deliver $25 million for the Shepparton Sports and Events Centre, $19.5 million for the local Clinical Health School for local nurse and allied health training, as well as a $1 billion boost to rural and regional health with $145 million specifically focused at increasing locally trained and based GPs.
If I am elected you know, upfront, I will be a member of a Federal Liberal team.
As part of that team I will have an actual role in ensuring our water security.
I will also have a part in making sure our defence budget is protected.
You know beforehand what you are getting.
When you vote at this election, make sure you have full disclosure from every candidate.
What team are they going to be playing on — the Blues, the Reds or the Greens?
You deserve to know what you’re going to get.
Not weasel words, or the dodging of the key questions.
