AQUATIC SANCTUARY

The indulgent spa at Crown Towers Perth is quite possibly one of Australia’s best, according to our editor, Cathy Wagstaff.

I’m told the opulent Crown Spa Perth is modelled on a Roman bathhouse, with its archways and vestibules, but I doubt the ancients had access to an oasis quite as entrancing and with décor as splendid as this. Water seems to pour from all surfaces in the Aqua Retreat: it rains from the ceiling in therapeutic showers, it envelops the air in the steam room and it gushes from gold-tiled alcoves into the vitality pool.

Interior designer Blainey North sought to transport guests to a calmer world, inspired by the interplay of sunlight under water. The idea is embodied by the swirling rings of an agate stone, amplified by Italian artist Alex Turco into a mural behind the brass-trimmed reception desk, and circular motifs that ripple throughout the 1355-squaremetre complex and into each of the 13 treatment rooms, with water-themed photographs by Christian Fletcher and Kara Rosenlund adorning the walls.

The Indulgence Suite offers the pinnacle of relaxation, with a private lounge, bathroom and marble bath perfect for couples.

I arrive to experience the 90-minute Blissful Marma Massage that alleviates any tension with firm, flowing movements, a stress-releasing facial massage, and aromatics that balance the emotions and the chakras. After my treatment I linger in the relaxation lounge amid the aquatic sanctuary over a cup of herbal tea.

Crown Spa has partnered with Australian brand, Subtle Energies, for its Ayurvedic body treatments and facials, and Swiss beauty maestros La Prairie for exclusive body treatments and facials rich in precious ingredients such as caviar, gold and platinum. In every respect, Crown Spa is an extension of the six-star Crown Towers Perth, a glamorous haven that is redefining luxury wellness experiences in Australia.
