EDITOR’S LETTER

This issue we welcome Andrew Conway to our team as executive editor. Andrew is a colossal – and exciting – addition to the Signature team. He brings over 20 years of experience working on major newspapers and magazines, specialising in luxury and travel. We are thrilled that his career path has led him to work with us. A week prior to joining us, Andrew won the prestigious CLIA award for the best cruise article of 2018, making him the ideal editor to have at the helm for our next issue, the annual Cruise Edition.

I have led Signature as editor-in-chief since our launch issue in 2009, and I have been thrilled to witness the growth and success of this title. My tenure places me as the longest serving consecutive editor of any travel magazine in Australia, an achievement of which I am very proud.

Having Andrew join us will bring fresh ideas and innovation to take the magazine forward. It also solidifies the fact that we have a team of the best and most experienced travel editors in the country under one roof. Together, we have a total of over 200 years of experience across our stable of titles. So along with our 10th anniversary this year, we have plenty of reasons to celebrate.

In February this year, I was privileged to visit Nihi Sumba and Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan, both voted by Travel + Leisure readers as the best hotels in the world: Nihi in 2016 and 2017, and Four Seasons in 2018. Both are remarkable. There is nowhere quite like Nihi Sumba. Buffalo and horses roam untethered on the beach and welcome a friendly pat. This Indonesian isle really is a land forgotten. But it will not stay this way for long, so now is the time to visit.

As for Four Seasons Resort Sayan, Barack Obama stayed here when he visited Bali just after his presidency. The entrance is unlike anything you would have seen before, with its rooftop gardens, and its wellness programs are second to none, which we will share with you in the next issue.
