Legendary shoe designer Christian Louboutin, the creator of the famous red-soled stilettos, is moving into the travel world with plans for his first boutique hotel in Portugal. Located in the pretty village of Melides in the coastal Alentejo region, the 21room property is scheduled to open in mid-2020 and is billed as “simple outside, impactful inside”. The hotel will be stamped with Louboutin’s unique design aesthetic, including ceramics and Aboriginal art, and an intimate restaurant will serve organic seasonal cuisine sourced from regional provedores.
