Meet the meerkats of Jamala

The African safari experience at Jamala Wildlife Lodge gets a cheeky twist in uShaka Lodge’s newest enclosure. A clan of meerkats moved into the five-star retreat late last year, ready to delight guests staying in the Wild Encounter Suite and Wild Encounter Room 1, who have the opportunity to enjoy a private viewing with the new residents. Located within the National Zoo & Aquarium in Canberra, Jamala Wildlife Lodge is an award-winning animal experience with 18 African-themed rooms and suites, ranging from Giraffe Treehouses to Jungle Bungalows with lions, tigers or (sun)bears lounging in the backyard. Overnight stays also include two guided tours of the zoo and meals in extraordinary surrounds.
