LOCK UP YOUR WINES
Once home to some of Australia’s most infamous criminals, including Mark ‘Chopper’ Read, Christopher Flannery and Squizzy Taylor, cells in D-Division of Victoria’s former Pentridge Prison are about to be given a new lease of life as uber-secure cellars for fine wine connoisseurs and collectors. Each private wine cellar – available for $115,000 with its own strata title – can store up to 2,000 bottles and comes fully equipped with racks, temperature control, ambient lighting and high security, including CCTV. Pentridge Cellars is part of the Pentridge urban redevelopment project in the heart of Coburg, north of Melbourne’s CBD, which is transforming the former prison into a vibrant community centre of retail, apartments and restaurants.
