Opulence at sea

Set your sights on an expedition cruise with Seabourn and step into a new era of style on the ocean.

Custom-designed Italian chairs, glass partitions etched with vintage maps, Swarovski telescopes and fine wines encased in bronze-framed glass. Expedition sailing has entered a new era of style and Seabourn is at the helm.

Sail on its ultra-luxe purpose-built expedition ship Seabourn Venture and you’d be forgiven for thinking you have stepped straight into one of the world’s most opulent resorts.

It’s hardly surprising given the cruise line partnered with New York-based hospitality interior atelier, Tihany

Design, behind interiors of the Beverly Hills Hotel, Belmond Hotel Cipriani in Venice and The Oberoi, New Delhi – to name but a few. Led by founder Adam. D Tihany, the ethos was to capture the romanticism of early explorers – and this nautical nod is everywhere.

Custom furniture incorporates wood, wool, leather and fur. Art displays include intricate nautical knots. And there’s equally a warm, luxurious style. Think fireplaces with water vapour flames, diamond-shaped flooring and lighting, rich burgundy leather seats and velvet banquette-style seating.

Suite dreams

The 132 contemporary oceanfront suites have parchment-inspired wall panels and curved arch designs to reflect bygone maritime craftsmanship.

There are exposed rivet details, bronze metal inlays, and custom bedside panels with foldaway reading lamps.

Wool blankets are custom-designed and throws on the couches are made of soft, fine-textured, sustainably sourced cashmere. After a day of adventure, dry clothes in the ‘heat jacket’ inside the wardrobe while you soak in a bathtub in the spacious bathroom with opulent bronze fittings.

Days of exploration

Built for polar exploration, the ship takes you to far-flung, remote places: the Arctic, Antarctica, Greenland, Iceland, Central and South America, and the Amazon (to name a few). Travelling with you is a team of 26 scientists, scholars and naturalists to ensure you get the most out of the experience. Board Zodiacs, kayak, go for a nature walk, scuba dive or climb into one of two custom-built submersibles to discover the underwater world. Then climb back on board and warm yourself in the sauna, gazing through floor-to-ceiling windows to never-ending ocean views.

Afterwards, visit the Discovery Center to learn about the land you’ve just seen, then choose from one of two restaurants or slip into one of the intimate lounges.

Expedition Lounge has a private club atmosphere, while Constellation is the highest indoor viewing point, where the intimate interior has a dark blue and red palette accented by silver and bronze metals, intricate stone floors and lighting with a shimmering star-like pattern. We dare you to find a better place to sip a cocktail at sea. seabourn.com
