NOTES

This sweater is worked from side to side in rows, so the first piece that you work will form the Front and Back piece running along one side of the neckline, and will be folded at the shoulder. See the diagram overleaf for the direction of work, and where you need to join the yarn after each section. The Sleeves are worked separately, and the ruffles are added at the end.

Ch4 at the beginning of a row counts as a dtr. Ch1 at the beginning of a row does not count as a st.

SIDE PANEL AND BACK

With Pumice, ch195 (199: 205: 209).

Row 1 (RS) Ss in second ch and each foll ch to end, turn. [194 (198: 204: 208)sts]

Row 2 Ch4, dtr in fl of each st across, turn.

Row 3 Ch1, ss in fl of each st across, turn. Rows 2 and 3 set the pattern. Repeat (Rows 2 and 3) 3 (4: 5: 6) more times.

Repeat Row 2 again for all sizes, do not fasten off. [10 (12: 14: 16)rows]

BACK

Row 1 (RS) Ch1, ss in fl of first 97 (99: 102: 104) sts, turn.

Row 2 Ch4, dtr in fl of next 96 (98: 101: 103) sts, turn. [97 (99: 102: 104)sts] Repeat (Rows 1 and 2) 7 more times. [16 rows for Back]

Leave yarn attached here and start new ball of Pumice for the Front as follows.

FRONT

This is Section 2 on the Diagram.

With RS facing, join to next unworked st of last row of Side Panel.

Row 1 (RS) Ch1, ss in fl of next 97 (99: 102: 104) sts to end, turn.

Row 2 Ch4, dtr in fl of next 80 (82: 85: 87) sts, dtr2tog, turn leaving remaining sts unworked for neck. [82 (84: 87: 89)sts]

Row 3 Ch1, ss in fl of each st to end, turn.

Row 4 Ch4, dtr in fl of each st to last 2 sts, dtr2tog, turn. [81 (83: 86: 88)sts]

Row 5 Ch1, ss in fl of each st to end, turn.

Row 6 Ch4, dtr in fl of each st to end, turn.

Row 7 Ch1, ss in fl of each st to end, turn. Repeat (Rows 6 and 7) 3 more times.
