STRIPED POUFFE

Put your feet up and listen to those tunes in style with Kate Alinari’s fabulous footrest.

Simply Crochet - - CONTENTS -

Kate Alinari’s fun pouffe is easy to hook, and uses a super chunky (and super soft) yarn, so you’ll have it made lickety-split. It works as an extra seat, too. Tone down the colours to match your home, or hey, just redecorate to suit your pouffe. Why not?

NOTES

The Pouffe is worked from top down in two pieces: the body and a base, which are sewn together after stuffing.

The Pouffe is crocheted in the round, closing off each round with a ss, without turning. To make the join almost invisible, do not count starting chains as a stitch and work first st of each round in the st at base of starting chain. Skip starting chains when joining the round with a ss.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

BASE

Using Yarn E, work as Rounds 1- 9 of Body and without changing colour.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

TO FINISH

Stuff the Body with a single duvet. Using Yarn E, sew the Base onto the Body, making sure that each stitch of the Base matches up to one stitch of the Body. Don’t weave this end, just hide it inside the Pouffe so you can undo the seaming easily when you want to wash it. To do this: open the Pouffe, unstuff it, then wash it, restuff it and stitch it back up. Remember to save a small amount of Yarn E to sew again, after washing.

For a bit of variety, flip the pouffe over so the base colour is at the top instead.

Each of the main stripes is worked over six rows before changing to the next colour.

Start with a humble magic loop, then fan out until you’ve got a giant squishy globe.

The linked treble stitch creates a gorgeous texture to really show off the chunky yarn.
