Take off for the stars with a cute little bookmark designed by Matt Spiers.
■ Caron Simply Soft (100% acrylic, 170g/288m), a small amount of each:
Yarn A Purple (9781)
Yarn B Iris (9747)
Yarn C Dark Country Blue (9711)
Yarn D Lavender Blue (9756)
Yarn E Light Country Blue (9709)
■ A 2mm (US 4 steel) hook

ROCKET MAIN
Using Yarn A, ch2.
Row 1 (RS) 2dc in second ch from hook, turn. [2 dc]
Row 2 Ch1 (doesn’t count as st throughout), 2dc in each st across, turn. [4 dc]
Row 3 Ch1, dc across, turn. [4 dc]
Row 4 Ch1, 2dc in first st, dc to last st, 2dc in last st, turn. [6 dc]
Rows 5-6 Repeat Rows 3-4. [8 dc]
Rows 7-12 Repeat Row 3.
Fasten off. Change to Yarn E.
Rows 13-19 Repeat Row 3. Fasten off. Change to Yarn B.
Row 20 Repeat Row 3. [8 dc] Change to Yarn D, carry Yarn B as you work.
Rows 21-22 Ch1, dc in first st with Yarn D, dc in next 2 sts with Yarn B, dc in next 2 sts with Yarn D, dc in next 2 sts with Yarn B, dc in last st with Yarn D, turn. [8 dc]
Rows 23-24 Ch1, dc in first st with Yarn B, dc in next 2 sts with Yarn D, dc in next 2 sts with Yarn B, dc in next 2 sts with Yarn D, dc in last st with Yarn B, turn. [8 dc]
Row 25 Using Yarn B only, ch1, dc in each st across, turn.
Change to Yarn E. Place markers in first and last stitches of Row 26 and Row 35.
Rows 26-35 Ch1, dc in each st across, turn. Change to Yarn C.
Row 36 Ch1, ss in next 2 sts, ch2, tr in next 4 sts, ch2, ss in last 2 sts. [4 ss and 4 tr]
Fasten off and weave in ends.
LEFT ROCKET WING
Using Yarn D and with RS facing, join with a ss in top marker on left-hand side.
Row 1 (RS) Ch1, dc in side of each row down to bottom marker, 2dc in bottom marker stitch, turn. [11 dc]
Row 2 Ch1, 2dc in first st, dc in each st across to last 2 sts, dc2tog, turn. [11 dc]
Row 3 Ch1, dc in each st across to last st, 2dc in last st, turn. [12 dc]
Rows 4-5 Repeat Rows 2-3. [13 dc]
Fasten off and weave in ends.
RIGHT ROCKET WING
Using Yarn D and with RS facing, join with a ss in bottom marker on right-hand side.
Row 1 (RS) Ch1, 2dc in side of first row, dc in side of each row up to top marker, turn. [11 dc]
Row 2 Ch1, dc2tog, dc in each st across to last 2 sts, 2dc, turn. [11 dc]
Row 3 Ch1, 2dc in first st, dc in each st across, turn. [12 dc]
Rows 4-5 Repeat Rows 2-3. [13 dc]
Fasten off and weave in ends.
WINDOW
Using Yarn B, ch2.
Row 1 6dc in second ch from hook, join to first dc with a ss.
Change to Yarn C.
Row 2 Ch1, 2dc in each st around, join with ss.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
TO MAKE UP
Sew Window to the colour change at Row 12. Using Yarn D, sew a vertical running stitch of 5 sts in centre of bottom section of Iris (between the two wings). Optional: Tie a length of Yarn B to each of the 4 tr sts from Row 36 of Rocket Main. Use a needle to fray/split the yarn, then trim to desired length.
