Last month, 15,000 people headed to Park Vijversburg in the Netherlands to view The Largest Crocheted Blanket in the World. Monique van der Hoek and Esmeralda de Virse called on the international crochet community to get involved and the result was 10,840 blankets with an area of 25,500m2, contributed by people from 50 countries. Now the challenge is over, the blankets will be donated to various charities to distribute to those in need. "It was an initiative to visualise people’s strength and warmth and the blankets represent connection and diversity," explains Esmeralda. Don’t miss the next big thing, follow @GGDW2018 on Insta.
