ABBREVIATI­ONS

Call it what you will – mustard, sunflower or gold, this issue’s colour pick amber works beautifull­y with a whole host of colours, but Kate has picked out petroleum and plum to complement it for her squares scarf, made from 188 mini motifs. An ideal project for on-the-go crochet.

NOTES

The Scarf is made up of 188 Motifs, 72 in Petroleum, 69 in Plum and 47 in Mustard. There is a chart on p93 which you can use when joining the Motifs.

MOTIF MAKE 188

Starting with any colour as listed above, loosely wrap the yarn around the 10mm hook 14 times, and slide off the hook to form the foundation ring. Continue on using the 4mm hook. Round 1 Insert hook through the foundation ring, yrh, pull up loop, ch1 (does not count as a st throughout), 16dc into the ring. [16 dc]

Round 2 *(Dc, ch2, dc) into first st, ch1, skip 1 st, dc into next st, ch1, skip 1 st; repeat from * three more times, ss into first dc to join. [12 dc, 8 ch-1 sps, 4 ch-2 sp]

Round 3 Ss into first ch-2 sp, ch1, *(dc, ch2, dc) into ch-2 sp, skip next dc, 2dc into the next ch-1 sp, skip next dc, 2dc into the next ch-1sp; repeat from * three more times, ss into first dc to join. [24 dc, 4 ch-2 sps]

Fasten off.

TO MAKE UP

Please refer to the chart on p93 which shows how the Motifs should be joined.

Whip stitch the Motifs together using Petroleum or Plum.
