Simply Crochet

“Creativity has been my way of life since birth,” Olivia Kent of Hopeful Honey told us. “I’d be lost without it. As an adult, I’ve been crocheting since 2012 when I re-taught myself via various YouTube videos after spending an eye-opening evening scrolling through crochet boards on Pinterest.

“I love looking back over my crochet journey, and seeing how much I’ve grown by pushing myself outside my comfort zone. That’s probably my biggest triumph, that I’m not afraid to try anything new – even if I fail miserably and have to frog it a dozen times before I finally create something that I value.

“As a crochet-wear company with a modern approach to a timeless art form, I’m a big advocate of the slow fashion movement, as I believe fashion should be made with love and in a sustainable way. My focus is to create sophisticated pieces for the modern, on-the-go woman, that are different from the crochet traditions most people are accustomed to and more geared towards today’s styles, such as my oversized Fallow Fawn Roll-Neck Sweater (top right). Using simple techniques, I’m passionate about designing garments that can be whipped up in a weekend. I’ve found that the meditative and cognitive benefits that crochet offers not only reduce my stress and anxiety levels, but also brighten every single day. One design that tested my patience was my Winter Tempest Blanket (above), which incorporates different textures and stitches to create a serene home accessory.

“My mission consists of two things: to make crochet cool again and to change the world one stitch at a time.“
