Simply Crochet - - HOOKED -

Sam Sabido, aka Re-made by Sam, runs crochet classes and clubs in gorgeous venues in Hertfordshire. She learned to crochet while pregnant with her fourth baby and desperate for some ‘me time’. She says she fell in love with crochet straight away and has crocheted every day since.

“I find inspiration in vintage designs and have a big collection of vintage patterns,” says Sam. “I try to reflect my love of all things vintage and retro in my design, and you’ll find lots of vintage influence on my blog.

“I get so much pleasure from sharing my passion for crochet with people who are new to the hobby. It’s such a great feeling when people come back to tell me how much they’re enjoying their crochet. Recently I met an 87-year-old lady who had attempted to learn to crochet on several occasions throughout her life with no success. She came on one of my classes and soon got the hang of it – that was a great triumph!

“I must admit, I do find it quite a challenge to switch off. Running your own business can be all-consuming, because you feel so passionately about it. I’m constantly thinking of new ideas for classes and designs and sometimes I have to tell myself to step away from my crochet hook! I’m very easily distracted by new projects and usually end up with far too many works in progress on the go at once.

“As if I’m not already busy enough, I’m currently collaborating with an illustrator on a brand-new project, which I’m really excited about. We’ll be launching some exciting new kits and patterns soon.”
