“This challenge has been so fun, particularly as I love crocheting with Scheepjes Catona – the colours are just gorgeous! Mother’s Day can mean many things to many di erent people, so I wanted to create a card that captured the essence of a mother’s relationship. My own mother gave me the gift of crochet by providing endless inspiration throughout my childhood.“You can nd Eleonora and her seaside-inpired makes online at www.coastalcrochet.com, or follow her on Instagram @coastalcrochet.

“What a fantastic challenge this was! I came up with a few ideas for the card, but in the end I chose butter ies because I really love them

– in fact my husband and

I have often joked about winning the lottery and setting up a butter y farm! I enjoyed making the little motifs and loved embroidering onto the card to add an extra handmade twist. As it was my mum that taught me how to crochet, this Mother’s Day card is just perfect for her.” Find Heather and her work online at www.keepcalmandcrochetonuk.com.

TO MAKE UP

In pencil lightly sketch the grass at the bottom of the card, then sketch the heart and add two extra lines for the flight path, as shown – use the image as a guide.

Use a needle to pierce small holes, approx 0.5cm apart, through the card along your pencil lines.

Rub out the pencil before you embroider the design.

Use Yarn D to embroider along the lines of the grass, secure the yarn on the WS of the card with a small knot.

Use Yarn E to embroider along the lines of the heart, again securing with a knot on the WS of the card.

Glue the Butterflies into position on the front of the card.
