Changing colour

MAKE THE MOST OF COLOURWORK TECHNIQUES

-

We love the flexibility of crochet, in part because it means we get to enjoy playing with colour! Some of our favourite colour creations are ones that involve changing yarn shades mid-row, but doing this often creates confusion – which colourwork technique should you use?

SPOILED FOR CHOICE

You could use the tapestry crochet method, the Fair Isle technique or the intarsia approach, but which one is best and for which projects? In this workshop, we’ll explain the differences between these three key colourwork techniques and how best to use each one.

The main differences between the three techniques are about what you do in between spaced out stitches of the same colour. We’ll practise by making some samples of the same checked pattern using each method, so you can learn the pros and cons involved and make an informed choice for your next project.

Then, with your new-found colourwork confidence, you can make our colourful notebook cover project on page 83.
