Yarn B Lord of the Dance (632)

BPhtr Yrh, starting from back, insert hook from back to front to back around post of indicated st, complete as half treble st

ftr (foundation treble) Ch4 (counts as first ftr), *insert hook into last ch from hook, yrh and pull up a loop, ch1, (ch-1 will sit at base of ftr), (yrh and pull through 2 loops) twice; rep from * inserting hook into ch-1 at base of previous ftr made

Go surfer-chic in pink waves this winter. As a chunky roving yarn, Namaste is not twisted, giving it an almost felted look. The airy stitch pattern means the cosy hat remains light and breathable while still keeping your head warm.

Hat is worked from the brim upwards in joined rounds without turning.

Round 1 (RS) Using Yarn A, leave a long starting tail, 70ftr, ss to beg ftr to join. [70 sts]

Rounds 2-3 (RS) Ch2 (does not count as st), FPhtr around first st, BPhtr around next st, (FPhtr around next st, BPhtr around next st) 34 times, ss to beg FPhtr to join.

Fasten off, sew edges of foundation chain together using starting tail.

MAIN HAT

Round 4 (RS) Join Yarn B into first st, *ch5, dc in second ch from hook, htr in next ch, tr in next ch, dtr in next ch, skip next 4 sts of Round 3, ss to next st; repeat from * 13 times more, working last ss into first st of round. [14 triangles]

Fasten off and join Yarn C into ch-1 sp at top of first

triangle.

Round 5 Ch1, *working in sts of triangle below, dc in dc, htr in htr, tr in tr, dtr in dtr, skip 4 ch, ss to ch-1 sp at top of next triangle; repeat from * 13 times more, working last ss into first ch-1 sp.

Fasten off.

Round 6 Join Yarn A in first st, ch1 (doesn’t count as st throughout), dc in each st around, ss to beg dc to join. [70 sts]

Fasten off.

Rounds 7-8 As Rounds 4-5.

Round 9 Join Yarn A in first st, ch1, dc in same st and each of next 2 sts, dc2tog, *dc in each of next 3 sts, dc2tog; repeat from * 12 times more, ss to be dc to join. [56 sts]

Fasten off.

Round 10 Join Yarn B in first st, *ch4, dc in second ch from hook, htr in next ch, tr in next ch, skip next 3 sts, ss to next st; repeat from * 13 times more, working last ss into first st of round. [14 triangles]

Fasten off.

Round 11 Join Yarn C in ch-1 sp at top of first triangle, ch1, *working in sts of triangle below, dc in dc, htr in htr, tr in tr, skip 3 ch, ss to ch-1 sp at top of next triangle; repeat from * 13 times more, working last ss into beg ch-1 sp.

Fasten off.

Round 12 Join Yarn A in first st, ch1, dc in same st and next st, dc2tog, *dc in next 2 sts, dc2tog; rep from * 12 times more, ss to beg dc to join. [42 sts]

Fasten off.

Round 13 Join Yarn B in first st, *ch3, dc in second ch from hook, htr in next ch, skip next 2 sts, ss to next st; repeat from * 13 times more, working last ss into first st of last round. [14 triangles]

Fasten off and join Yarn C into ch-1 sp at top of first triangle.

Round 14 Ch1, *working in sts of triangle below, dc in dc, htr in htr, skip 2 ch, ss to ch-1 sp at top of next triangle; repeat from * 13 times more, working last ss into beg ch-1 sp.

Fasten off.

Round 15 Join Yarn A in first st, ch1, dc in same st, dc2tog, *dc in next st, dc2tog; repeat from * 12 times more, ss to beg dc to join. [28 sts]

Fasten off and join Yarn B into first st.

Round 16 *Ch3, dc in second ch from hook, htr in next ch, skip next st, ss to next st; repeat from * 13 times more, working last ss into first st of last round. [14 triangles]

Fasten off and join Yarn C into ch-1 sp at top of first triangle.

Fasten off leaving a long tail. Thread tail through all stitches of last round and pull tight to close. Weave in all ends.
