Although this is a short pattern there are a couple of different stitches to master, making this project a quick-but-satisfying challenge. Extend the number of rows and don’t join for a thick scarf alternative.
NOTES
Cowl is worked in long rows as a flat piece. The short edges are joined together, then edging is worked around the top and bottom.
COWL
Ch82.
Row 1 (RS) *Insert hook into back loop of second ch from hook, yrh and pull up a loop; rep from * in each ch across (82 loops), RetP across. [82 sts]
Row 2 (RS) (Tss in next st, Tps in next st, Tss in next st, Tks in next 2 sts) 16 times, Tss in final st, RetP across.
Repeat Row 2 another 20 times.
Row 23 Ss in each vertical bar across.
Fasten off leaving a long tail.
Use the tail to sew the short edges together, making sure each row end lines up.
BORDER
With WS facing, join Linen into any ss from Row 23.
Round 1 (WS) Ch1, reverse dc in each ss around, ss to beg dc.
Fasten off.
Repeat Row 1 of Border on the opposite edge of the Cowl.
Fasten off and weave in all ends.
