Bag is made up of 32 Square motifs. Block each motif to the measuremen­ts stated before joining them together.

BAG

SQUARE MAKE 32

Make 8 each in Yarns A, B, C and D.

Ch4, ss to last ch from hook to form ring. Round 1 (RS) Ch4 (counts as tr, ch1 throughout), (tr in ring, ch1) 7 times, ss to third ch of beg-4 to join. [8 tr, 8 ch-1 sps]

Round 2 (RS) Ss to first ch-1 sp, ch4, tr in same ch-sp, ch1, (tr, ch 1, tr, ch1) in each ch-sp around, ss to third ch of beg ch-4. [16 tr, 16 ch-sps] Round 3 Ss to first ch-1 sp, ch3 (counts as first tr throughout), tr in same ch-sp, ch1, (2tr, ch1) in each ch-sp around, ss to top of beg ch-3.

[32 tr, 16 ch-sps]

Round 4 Ss into first ch-1 sp, ch3, 2tr in same sp, *ch1, skip next 2 tr, skip next ch-1 sp, 3tr in next tr, ch2, 3tr in next tr (corner made), ch1, skip next ch-1 sp, skip next 2 tr, 3tr in next ch-1 sp, ch1**, skip next 2 tr, 3tr in next ch-1 sp; rep from * 3 times more ending final rep at **, ss to top of beg ch-3. [48 tr, 4 ch-2 sps, 12 ch-1 sps]

Fasten off.

Join Yarn E in any corner.

Round 5 Ch1 (does not count as st), *3dc in corner, dc in each st and ch-sp across to next corner; rep from * 3 times more, ss to beg dc. [72 dc]

Fasten off and weave in ends.

TO MAKE UP

With WS facing and using Yarn E, ss the Squares together. They need to be joined in two 4x4 panels. You can use the image as a guide. Using the panel, cut out 2 squares from the fabric that measure the same as the bag plus a 1cm seam allowance.

Ss the 2 panels together in the same way along three edges, leaving the top edge open.

STRAP (MAKE 2)

Using Yarn E, ch55.

Row 1 (RS) Dc in second ch from hook and each ch across, turn. [54 sts]

Rows 2-3 Ch1, dc in each st across, turn. Fasten off and weave in ends.

TO FINISH

Sew the Straps to the top of the Bag.

Sew the lining pieces together leaving the top open. Place inside the bag with the opening at the top. Fold the seam down and sew to the top edge of the Bag.

Using Yarn E, make four 10cm-long tassels and attach evenly along the base of the Bag.
