This work of art by Simone Francis uses cool and warm shades to exhibit a dynamic crochet stitch

Showcase your mosaic skills with this stunning cardigan. It does all the talking, so works well with denim and plain separates.

NOTES

The Cardigan is worked in rows from bottom up. The Rib sections only are turned at the end of each row and the Mosaic sections are always worked from the beginning stitch across the row from right to left. The RS of work will be facing at all times during mosaic pattern. Start each new row for the mosaic sections at the first st in the row, making a slip stitch into the first st in the row to start and leaving a tail end long enough to knot and weave in. At the end of each row the yarn will be fastened off, leaving a tail end.

To lengthen Cardigan, work additional rows here in Emerald, ending with Row 3 of pattern.

BODY RIB

With 3.5mm hook and Pebble, work 131 (140: 152: 164: 179) fdc (first ch does not count as st).

Foundation row Ch2 (counts as htr), htr in each st to end, turn. [131 (140: 152: 164: 179) sts]

Row 1 Ch1 (not counted as st throughout Rib), FPtr around first st, FPtr around second st, *htr in next st, FPtr around next 2 sts; rep from * to end, turn.

Row 2 Ch1, BPtr around first st, BPtr around second st, *htr in next st, BPtr around next 2 sts; rep from * to end, turn.

Repeat Rows 1-2 once more, change to 4mm hook and cont rep Rows 1-2 another 3 times.

STITCH PATTERN

Every row is started with (ss, ch1) in the first st, which does not count as a st. This is not written into the pattern, so the first st of every row will be worked into the same st as the first (ss, ch1). Do not turn at the end of each row.

On Row 4 of the Stitch Pattern the mtr are worked into the rem front loop left by the dc st 2 rows down. On Row 5 of the Stitch Patt, all except the first and last sts of the row are worked into the mtr of Row 3. The first and last sts are worked in rem front loops of the first and last dc on Row 3.

All dcbl are worked into sts of the previous row.

Using Pebble and a 4mm hook,

Foundation row 1 FPtr around first st, FPtr around second st, (dcbl in next st, 2FPtr) to end.

Foundation row 2 With Peat, dcbl in each st to

end.

Row 1 With Pool, 2dcblo, *mtr in rem fl left by dc 2 rows down, dcblo in next 2 sts; rep from * to end.

rows down, skip next mtr of prev row, dcbl in last st.

Row 4 With Magenta, 2dcbl, *mtr between V into rem fl left by dc 2 rows down, 2dcbl; rep from * to end.
