POMPOM BASKET
Keep it all together with a storage basket from DROPS
Storage solutions with handles will always come in handy, and crocheted ones with their soft lines are so much nicer to look at. If you decide to add embellishments consider matching the colour with your decor.
NOTES
Basket is worked with 2 strands of yarn held together throughout.
Pompoms and tassels are added to the Basket at the end.
Change colour on the joining slip stitch at the end of round as indicated.
BASKET
Using 1 strand of Off White and 1 strand of Dark Beige held together, ch5 and ss in last ch from hook to form a loop.
Round 1 (RS) Ch3 (counts as tr throughout), 11tr in loop, ss to top of beg ch-3. [12 sts]
Round 2 (RS) Ch3, tr in st at base of ch-3, 2tr in each st around, ss to top of beg ch-3. [24 sts]
Round 3 Ch3, (2tr in next st, tr in next st) 11 times, 2tr in final st, ss to top of beg ch-3.
[36 sts]
Round 4 Ch3, (2tr in next st, tr in next 2 sts) 11 times, 2tr in next st, tr in next st, ss to top of beg ch-3. [48 sts]
Round 5 Ch3, (2tr in next st, tr in next 3 sts) 11 times, 2tr in next st, tr in next 2 sts, ss to top of beg ch-3. [60 sts]
Round 6 Ch3, (2tr in next st, tr in next 4 sts) 11 times, 2tr in next st, tr in next 3 sts, change to 2 strands of Off White, ss to top of beg ch-3. [72 sts] Round 7 Ch1 (counts as dc throughout), dc in bl of each st around, ss to beg ch-1.
Rounds 8-11 Ch3, tr in each st around, ss to top of beg ch-3.
Round 12 Ch3, tr in st at base of ch-3, (tr in next 11 sts, 2tr in next st) 5 times, tr in final 11 sts, ss to top of beg ch-3. [78 sts]
Round 13 (Working in fl only) Ch1, (2dc in next
st, dc in next 5 sts) 12 times, 2dc in next st, dc in final 4 sts, ss to beg ch-1. [91 sts] Fasten off.
Join 1 strand of Off White and 1 strand of Dark Beige into any unused bl from Round 12.
Round 14 Ch3, (tr2tog, tr in next 11 sts) 5 times, tr2tog, tr in final 10 sts, ss to top of beg ch-3. [72 sts]
Rounds 15-17 Ch3, tr in each st around, ss to top of beg ch-3.
Round 18 Ch3, tr in next 12 sts, ch12, skip 11 sts, tr in next 25 sts, ch12, skip 11 sts, tr in final 12 sts, ss to top of beg ch-3. [50 sts, 2 ch-12 sps]
Round 19 Ch1, *dc in each st to ch-12 sp, (htr, 11 tr, htr) in ch-12 sp; rep from * around, change to 2 strands of Off White, ss to beg ch-1. [76 sts]
Round 20 Ch1, reverse dc around, ss to beg
ch-1.
Fasten off. TO FINISH
Make 1 pompom in each of the foll colours: Apricot, Raspberry, Shocking Pink and Heather. Tie off each pompom using Off White so you can sew it to the Basket with an invisible st. For the tassels, cut 20 strands of yarn approx 12cm long. Fold 19 strands in half and secure a strand of Off White through the top with a small knot. Wrap the remaining yarn in the same colour approx 1cm from the top of the tassel and weave end through centre. Make 1 tassel in same colours as pompoms.
Using the image as a guide, sew the tassels and pompoms around Round 13 of Basket. Weave in all ends.
