Simply Crochet

When I was pregnant with my son in 2017, I really wanted to create something unique for him. I knitted a white blanket, but I wanted to add some embellishments to it, so I looked online for crocheted borders. I loved the look of them, so I decided to try it from a video tutorial. I didn’t start with the easiest option as beginners do, but maybe that was my way to properly jump into it. After picking up the hook to make baby items for my son, I was soon hooked on crochet and then realised that I could make my own patterns too.

Inspiration is everywhere I go, especially in the natural forms that are around me as I go about my daily life. I love working with beautifully textured designs and stitches and I think of crochet as a unique way to express myself. My children are a great source of inspiration too. I remember that the best ideas often came to me in the middle of the night, usually around 3am, when my daughter was a baby and didn’t go back to sleep easily.

I absolutely love collecting beautiful crochet hooks and buying yarn, even if I don’t need it for a specific project. But I think that comes with this hobby, right? My total weakness is the beautiful colour gradient yarn cakes as they are not just pretty but offer endless possibilities. I have a few that are just waiting in my stash to become new designs, as soon as I have the right project for them.

My favourite make has to be my Celtic Pyramids Blanket design as it was a huge challenge to complete, because I really don’t like joining squares at all!
