When it comes to chunky yarns that combine softness with strength, DMC Natura XL might be tough to beat. This chunky matte-finish yarn hooks up really quickly, and is impressively light and soft for a 100% cotton yarn. At first glance it looks like it’s made of a chainette structure, but actually it’s 10 2ply strands all twisted together, which helps to make it so strong you could even use it as macramé cord.
