including white

■ A 4mm (US G/6) hook

NOTES

Square is worked in turned rounds. When working in white you will work a mixture of ss and clusters. The ss do not count as a st. On the next round you will be working into the sts 2 rounds below, working around the ss to conceal them.

FLUFFY DANDELION

Using any colour, make a magic loop. Round 1 (RS) Ch3 (counts as tr throughout), 11tr in loop, ss to top of beg ch-3, turn. [12 sts]

Fasten off.

Join white in any st with a ss.

Round 2 (WS) Ch1 (does not count as st throughout), (4-tr cl in next st, ss in next st) 6 times working final ss in same st as beg ch-1, turn. [6 sts]

Fasten off.

Join any colour in any st from Round 1 with a ss worked into in Round 2.

Round 3 Ch3, 3tr in st at base of ch-3, ch1, (skip 4-tr cl, 4tr in next st from Round 1, ch1) 5 times, ss to top of beg ch-3. [24 sts]

Fasten off.

With WS facing, join white to third tr of any 4-tr group.

Round 4 Ch1, (4-tr cl in next st, ss in ch-1 sp, 4-tr cl, ss in next 2 sts) 6 times, turn. [12 sts]

Fasten off.

With RS facing, join any colour in same st from Round 3 as beg ch-1 of Round 4.

Round 5 Ch3, tr in st at base of ch-3, *skip 4-tr cl, (tr, ch1, tr) in next ch-1 sp from Round 3, skip 4-tr cl, 2tr in next 2 sts from Round 3; rep from * 5 times more omitting last 2tr on last rep, ss to top of beg ch-3, turn. [36 sts]

Fasten off.

With WS facing, join white to st before any ch-1 sp.

Round 6 Ch1, *4-tr cl in ch-1 sp, ss in next st, 4-tr cl in next st, ss in next 2 sts, 4-tr cl in next st, ss in next st; rep from * 5 times more. [18 sts]

Fasten off.

With RS facing, join any colour in st at base of beg ch-1.

Round 7 Ch1, dc in first st, dc in next st, *htr in next st from Round 5, htr in next st, tr in next st from Round 5, (2dtr, ch2, 2dtr) in next st, (tr, htr) in next st from Round 5, htr in next st from Round 5, (dc in next st, dc in next st from Round 5) twice, dc in next st, htr in next st from Round 5, (htr, tr) in next st from Round 5, (2dtr, ch2, 2dtr) in next st, tr in next st from Round 5, htr in next st, htr in next st from Round 5, dc in next st, 2dc in next st from Round 5, dc in next st from Round 5; rep from * once more omitting last dc on final rep, ss to top of beg dc, do not turn. Fasten off.

With RS facing, join white to any st.

Round 9 Ch1, *dc in each st to ch-2 sp, (dc, ch2, dc) in ch-2 sp; rep form * around, ss to beg dc. [84 sts]

Fasten off and weave in ends.
