WEAVE THOSE ENDS IN STRAIGHT AWAY

-

I’m Nerissa, an Australian expat in the Netherlands. I grew up on a farm in South Australia, so sheep and wool are in my DNA. I was taught to knit and spin as a child, and I think I learned to crochet by osmosis. Over the years I have developed all sorts of little tricks to level up my crochet skills quickly and easily, and I cannot wait to share them with you. These tips will all help to make you a better crocheter with very little effort!

I’ll admit it – weaving in ends is my least favourite part of crochet. I have learned over the years that if I leave the weaving in to the end, the project will more than likely retain WIP status for all time.

To beat this, I weave my ends in as I go.

There are many ways you can do this, and there are as many tutorials as there are methods. However, I want to share my favourite way of doing this, as it has yet to unravel and cause me grief after the fact!

It’s a very simple trick. What you need to do is take the two ends of the yarn (the old colour and the new colour) and wrap them around your working yarn as you stitch. Let’s use a half treble as an example:

Wrap the ends around your working yarn, yrh, insert hook, pull up a loop, wrap the ends over the working yarn again, yrh and pull through all loops. Repeat for 10-12 stitches and then snip the ends.

This trick adds no bulk to the stitch and is almost invisible. Hope you find that helpful!
